Promoting Girls' Education: GAC and CJFLG Renew their Partnership

Kamsar, October 22nd, 2024 – Guinea Alumina Corporation (GAC) has reinforced its dedication to inclusion and equal opportunities by supporting an awareness campaign in collaboration with the Club of Young Girls Leaders of Guinea (CJFLG) NGO. This initiative, scheduled from October 22 to November 20, 2024, in Boké prefecture, seeks to promote access to education for young girls in primary schools across several villages in the region.

Following a successful first collaboration in 2023, GAC is renewing its support for this important cause, positioning itself as a key advocate for girls' education. This new campaign will cover 20 schools in the Boké prefecture, directly benefiting 2,500 children, including 1,200 girls, while aiming to raise awareness among more than 15,000 people, including parents, teachers, community leaders, elders, and young people. The initiative goes beyond promoting schooling by also addressing the cultural and social barriers that prevent girls from accessing education.

"At GAC, we strongly believe that educating young girls is essential for building a more prosperous and equitable future for everyone. By renewing our support for this initiative, we are reaffirming our commitment to creating opportunities for local communities and contributing to the sustainable development of our country," stated Salimatou Diallo, CSR Manager at GAC.

The campaign will also engage 20 volunteers from GAC and external partners, who will actively participate in hands-on activities, demonstrating the Company's continued commitment to supporting local initiatives that enhance the well-being of communities.

"This collaboration with GAC is crucial for expanding access to education in the most remote areas of Boké. Through this partnership, we can reach more young girls and give them the opportunity to build a better future. GAC’s commitment strengthens our ability to create sustainable change in communities where access to education remains a significant challenge," said Oumou Khairy Diallo, Executive Director of CJFLG.

This commitment reflects GAC’s core values of inclusion, equal opportunity, and social responsibility. By supporting this campaign, GAC actively contributes to the sustainable development of local communities while fostering a more inclusive and equitable future for generations to come.
