The Guinea Alumina Corporation has begun the development of three community palm plantations in Parawi, Mobhi, and Sinthiourou Touladji villages that are affected by the construction of GACs water reservoir for the supply of its facilities.

GAC processes the restoration of the means of existence of the local communities


The Guinea Alumina Corporation has begun the development of three community palm plantations in Parawi, Mobhi, and Sinthiourou Touladji; villages that are affected by the construction of GAC’s water reservoir for the supply of its facilities.

To ensure a good yield of the said plantations, GAC has offered cassava cuttings of the variety of ‘Tokoumbo’ whose yield is estimated between 10 and 15 tons per hectare. Thus, the cassava cuttings were distributed to four (4) groups of palm groves of the beneficiary villages. They will be planted in the palm groves as an intermediate crop on approximately 10 hectares.

This support is in addition to the three community plantations already developed for the resettled populations of Touldé and Petoun Djiga.

The GAC Executive Director emphasized that GAC initiatives for local communities are consistent with the high standards of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to help restore and sustain the livelihoods of people in its intervention area.

GAC reiterates once again its commitment to the well-being and development support of local communities.
